What does 200kA mean on a FUSE?

ANSWER:

Fuses also have a breaking capacity, and it is well written on the nameplate of the fuse, like circuit breakers.

Let’s take an HRC fuse with a breaking capacity of 200 kA. Above this current, the fuse will interrupt the circuit by destroying itself as well. below is a picture of the HRC of 900 A rated with Circuit breaking capacity of 200,000 A.

If the fault current that has to be interrupted will increase the fuse’s breaking capacity then the fuse will be blown. in more understandable words will explode!

Below is an image of the fuse after the fault current exceeded more than the fuse’s capacity (>200 kA).
